Welcome to The Little Mouse's House!
Hello! I'm Hayley Victoria, an East Yorkshire based artist and owner of The Little Mouse's House. Whether we've met at a local craft fair, whether you've found my website through YouTube or Instagram, or whether you've found my website by accident, I'm so grateful that you've chosen to stay and read all about The Little Mouse's House! Please scroll along this slideshow if you’d like to find out why I called my business ‘The Little Mouse’s House’, and if you’d like to learn about how it’s grown and evolved over the past few years! I’ll also quickly talk to you about where you can find me on my social channels, and I’ve popped a link to my calendar for anyone who’d like to view my artwork at upcoming craft fairs and exhibitions. Thanks so much for your time, and please feel free to have a look at my YouTube Channel and Instagram pages, if you’d like to! ☺️
A little bit of history…
Here's a little bit of information about how The Little Mouse's House came to be! Let's start with where the name came from. Long before I started to create art prints, greeting cards, and custom pet portraits, The Little Mouse's House started life as a YouTube channel where I shared (and continue to share) behind-the-scenes glimpses of my arty projects. As a hobby, I make miniatures for my pre-loved doll's houses, and I like to document all of the miniatures that I make! (Sorry… this is quite a long story, hehe!) My very first doll’s house renovation was one that I found at my local recycling centre, and I decided to take it back in time to the Tudor era. I instantly fell in love with making miniatures. If you’re wondering how this links to my current art and illustration business, and its name, please scroll along to find out!
So where did the name 'The Little Mouse's House' come from?
I named my doll’s house, and YouTube channel, ‘The Little Mouse’s House’. One Christmas, My very first twelfth scale house became home to a charming family of felt mice, which were made by my wonderfully creative Mum. (I actually called the house ‘The Little Mouse’s House’ before its residents arrived… but I think my Mum saw my vision and helped me to bring it to life! It was a lovely handmade surprise when I found the felt mice in their beautifully wrapped parcel, ready to move into their new home.) From there, the name The Little Mouse's House became very important to me, and I decided that it would stay!
What next?
Happily, my lovely, supportive YouTube community started to grow, and being able to share my arty projects on YouTube gave me the confidence to expand my artistic practice. I've always loved drawing and painting and, whilst still making miniatures, I gradually taught myself how to illustrate digitally. As I started to develop my own illustrative style, I also spent time experimenting with different papers for printing. Over time, I set up my own little studio in East Yorkshire where I now illustrate and print all of my artwork and greeting cards. (Well, I have to admit that the printing is done in the studio… but I illustrate everywhere - in the garden, in coffee shops, out and about in nature!) If you'd like to keep up to date with all of my arty projects, I like to post on my Instagram pages! (I have one for my art, and one for my miniatures.)
This brings me to the present day…
The Little Mouse's House encompasses all of my artistic endeavours - painting, illustrating and making miniatures - and I still share regular vlogs on my YouTube channel. If you live in East Yorkshire, you might find me at some events, especially around Christmas, because it's lovely to set up my stall and sell my work in person! However, if you don't live locally, I've set up this little website where most of my artwork is available! Thank you so much to everyone who chooses to purchase my artwork, commission me to illustrate bespoke pet portraits, and watch my YouTube videos. Your support means so much to me, and it's a joy to share my creativity with you all.
