If you’re looking for something fun and free to do in East Yorkshire this April, why not come along to my art group’s 77th Annual Art Exhibition in Cottingham? ☺️ It’s a great chance to explore a wonderful variety of local artwork and enjoy the creativity of our talented group.

When is the Exhibition?

Opening Evening (6pm - 9pm):

• Wednesday, 22nd April 2026

Exhibition Dates (10am - 5pm):

• Thursday, 23rd April 2026

• Friday, 24th April 2026

• Saturday, 25th April 2026

What to Expect

The exhibition is a lovely chance to see the artwork from the talented members of the Haltemprice Art Group. We’ll be showcasing a variety of pieces, including paintings, drawings, and mixed media, with something for everyone’s taste.

Best of all? It’s completely FREE to come along and have a look around… no tickets needed! Even if you’re not planning on buying any art, it’s just a nice, relaxing event to enjoy. And, if you do fall in love with a piece, many of the artworks will be for sale, along with a selection of greeting cards featuring our artwork.

What’s Special About This Exhibition?

  • During the exhibition, you can vote for your favourite piece of artwork! (The winner is often announced after the exhibition, in the Cottingham Times.)
  • Awards are given to artists on the opening night, with categories such as ‘Best Still Life’.
  • Sketchbooks are usually out on display, so you can get a peek into our creative processes. (I won’t be showing mine this year, though… I haven’t worked in one lately 😅).
  • Meet the artists! The exhibition is a great place to meet some of the artists behind the artwork. I’m sure we’ll all be happy to chat about our work if you’re interested! We take turns to invidulate the exhibition, so there’s always someone there to talk to!
  • We usually have a raffle available to enter where you can win a piece of artwork from the exhibition!

Where is the Exhibition?

You’ll find us at the Cottingham Civic Hall, located at:

1 Market Green,

Cottingham,

East Yorkshire,

HU16 5QF

Just head through the front door, then take a right, where you’ll find the exhibition in the main hall. Two of our lovely members will usually be by the entrance to say hello. The event is free. If you’d like to pick up a list of the artwork titles and prices, they’ll be available at a small fee. ✨

Why You Might Like to Visit

If you’re in the East Yorkshire area, this is a perfect opportunity to spend a few hours admiring the work of local artists. And, if you’re from further afield, perhaps you’d like to come on a little day trip! Cottingham is a lovely village with some nice places to grab a bite to eat or drink. It’s a great way to make a day of it and support local talent.

If you’re looking to buy a piece of original art, a greeting card, or an arty gift for someone special, it’s also a great place to find something whilst supporting an East Yorkshire artist. Most artwork is framed, but we also normally have a little selection of unframed pieces for sale, too.

This event is also perfect if you’re looking for free things to do in April in East Yorkshire - no ticket needed, just come along, enjoy the art, and have a wander around.

Supporting a Charity

Every year, artists from our group make something to sell, with money raised from these sales going to charity. This year, we’ll be designing coasters! This year’s charity hasn’t been announced yet, but there will be a notice on display next to the coasters to let you know the chosen charity.

Thank You!

So, if you’re looking for something a little different to do this April, pop by the Haltemprice Art Group’s 77th Annual Art Exhibition. We’d love to see you there, whether you’re a fan of art, looking for a new piece for your home, or just want to spend some time with us and check out the exhibition.

🗓️ Thank you for supporting our Cottingham based art group. Please remember to mark the date in your calendars! 😊✨
